Little Library is a publishing company that publishes a wide range of books in different genres. Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace is a romantic drama novella filled with betrayal which I portrayed through two hands yearning to connect but are out of reach. There is an arm reaching out on both sides of the cover with their pinkies almost meeting on the book cover’s spine. I wanted to create this feeling of loss through the lack of connection between the two characters.
The red string of fate is a popular romantic phenomena that describes destined lovers; however, I designed this red string of fate to be cut. I decided to position both of the pinkies and the cut string to be on the spine because it is ironic to see objects not connected in the place that connects a book together. I chose a purple background because of the two colors that are mixed together: red and blue. Red symbolizes love and passion while blue represents loyalty.
